This privacy policy (along with our terms of use) sets out how Adult Burn Support UK (ABSUK) uses and protects any information that you give ABSUK when you use this website or communicate with us in the course of normal activity.  The ABSUK website is funded and managed by Dan’s Fund for Burns (DFFB)

ABSUK is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. Should we ask you to provide certain information by which you can be identified when using this website, then you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement.

ABSUK may change this policy from time to time by updating this page. You should check this page from time to time to ensure that you are happy with any changes. This policy is effective from May 2018.

We may collect and process the following information about you:

  • Information you provide by filling in forms on our website.  This includes personal information you provide when registering to use our online forum, submitting your contact details including email address or requesting further information.
  •  If you contact us, we may keep a record of that correspondence for a period of time along with information you provided relevant to your enquiry or request.

We require this information to understand your needs and provide you with a better service, and in particular for the following reasons:

Controlling your personal information

In completing a registration form to use the ABSUK online forum, you create an account.  You can login to access your account (through ‘my profile’) and change your username, public forum ID, email address or password at any time.  If you would like to change or amend personal details or delete your account, please email forumadmin@adultburnsupportuk.org.

If you have contacted us through our website requesting information by email or previously given permission for us to contact you by email, you may change your mind at any time by sending an email to info@adultburnsupportuk.org.

We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure we have put in place suitable electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.  Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is never completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to our site; any transmission is at your own risk.
