South West UK Burns Network SWUK
Also known as SWUK Operational Delivery Network (ODN)
The SWUK Burn Care Network has a population of approximately 10 million, serving the South West of England, parts of South Central England and South, Mid and West Wales. It is one of four Networks for burn care services in England and Wales. The network provides specialist burn care services in hospitals designated as centres, units and facilities.
Burn Centre: This level of in-patient burn care is for the highest level of injury complexity and offers a separately staffed, geographically discrete ward. The facilities are up to highest level of critical care and have immediate operating theatre access.
Burn Unit: This level of in-patient burn care is for the moderate level of injury complexity and offers a separately staffed, discrete ward.
Burn Facility: This level of in-patient burn care equates to a standard plastic surgical ward for the care of non-complex burn injuries
Hospitals providing adult burn care in the SWUK Burn Care Network:
Burn Services in England and Wales have a multidisciplinary team including burn surgeons, burn nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, psychologists or psychotherapists & dietitians. Micro-needling, camouflage service and medical tattooing is offered in some, but not all, burn services.
